Patrik Antonius beats Ziigmund in Nordic awards

Friday, 5 February 2010

The Nordic Poker Awards 2010 have been voted on and announced – unsurprisingly all the cool Scandinavian players are high in the rankings, with Patrik Antonius taking Finland’s Best Online Player category.

Team Full Tilt’s Patrik Antonius is likely the richest online poker winner in history – not many people could sit with $1,000,000 stacks at $250/$500 Limit Hold ‘em in 2004. His accounts on Full Tilt, including his Red Pro name, are in profit by the better part of $20,000,000 at NLHE and PLO.
Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, a regular winner in the nosebleed games at Full Tilt alongside Antonius, came a close second to his former poker mentor. Antonius, however, had the long-standing top spot in the online poker stakes to tip it in his favour.

Other notable names include Ville Wahlbeck, who received Best Live Tournament Player for Finland – at the 2009 World Series of Poker he final tabled two $10,000 championship events, won the $10,000 Mixed Event and came 6th in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. tournament.

Peter Eastgate, who began 2009 with a win at the PokerStars Caribbean adventure, took the honours in that category (and the Best Performance award) for Denmark while Bluff Europe contributor Jesper Hougaard was crowned their Best Online Player.
