3D poker site PKR recently announced that the ninth incarnation of their ever popular live festival will feature an interesting game change.
Set to take place on March 28 at Aspers Casino in London, PKR Live is one of the site's largest events and brings together PKR regulars from across Europe for a weekend of poker, drinking and prop betting revelry.Traditionally the event has been played as a standard No Limit Hold'em Freezeout; however, for the forthcoming event the organisers have decided to make it a Mixed Max affair. Capped at 243 entrants, the $500 Main Event will begin with players competing on tables of nine, before Day 2 breaks the field into tables of six. When the field is cut to 16 Day 2 will be brought to a close before players return for a final session during which they will play a selection of heads-up matches for the title. The format is one which debuted at the WSOP back in 2011 and since then it's become increasingly popular with seasoned tournament players who feel it offers them a distinct skill advantage.Demand for the latest incarnation of PKR Live is expected to be high and players can book their place at the festival by taking part in one of PKR's many satellites or by buying in directly through the game client. New players signing up here are eligible for a free, no deposit required, $5.
