Over 400 players for Day 2 of EPT Monte Carlo

Tuesday, 27 April 2010

Day 1b saw the total amount of players registered to compete in the PokerStars European Poker Tour Monte Carlo grand final soar to 848; creating a prize pool of over €8,000,000 and a first prize of seven figures.

A host of seasoned tournament veterans dropped out on Day 1b - Erick Lindgren, Jason Mercier, John Juanda, Tony G, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and Daniel Negreanu, who hit up the $100/$200 NL games on PokerStars shortly after he hit the rail.

However, there are still an army of skilled tournament pros ready to attack the final table in a few days time. Joe Cada, Shaun Deeb, Isabelle Mercier, Marcel Luske and Joe Hachem all join the Day 1a survivors – including Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius – today.

One man everyone is disappointed in for busting is Viktor Blom – the 19-year-old Swede who is definitely not Isildur1 (ahem, cough) built a huge stack early in the day before busting; presumably bluffing off with 9-high.

413 players are still in contention for a massive pay day with Brazil's Thiago Nishijima leading the way.
