Poker payment processor Skrill will now officially become a part of the Optimal Payments group thanks to recent approval by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Following a $1.2 billion offer made back in March, Optimal Payment can now formally complete the deal which will see it take charge one of the poker world's favourite deposit and withdrawal methods.As well as having control of Skrill, Optimal Payments also owns Neteller which is also a popular payment method for online poker players. Commenting on the deal, Optimal Payments believes the new deal will allow it to create a complete network of online payment options."The Directors of Optimal Payments believe that the acquisition will be transformational and value enhancing for Optimal Payments and will create a leading payment and digital wallet provider with significant international scale and reach that is well positioned to capitalize on the substantial and growing payment processing and digital wallet markets, particularly within the rapidly expanding online gambling sector," read a statement from Optimal Payments. In addition to creating a more secure and efficient platform for poker players, Optimal Payments believes the new deal will allow it to become the market leader in online payments with close to $700 million in revenue. "We are taking advantage of an exceptional opportunity to acquire a business we know very well which, combined with Optimal Payments, will be a leading UK based online payments business with the essential scale necessary to be highly successful," clarified Optimal Payments Chairman, Dennis Jones.
