The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) has crowned its first winner of 2014 after Oliver Price took the honours in London over the weekend.
A guarantee-busting field of 323 runners took to the tables at The Poker Room at the Vic and after three days of hard fought action it was Price who walked away as champion. It's been a great start to 2014 for Price who pocketed €271,200 after finishing third at the EPT Deauville Main Event a fortnight ago.The Londoner added another £86,400 to his roll after working his way through a classy final table that included Ben Vinson, Mat Frankland and long-time chip leader David Laronde.Price took the title after beating Alan Mansbridge heads up. It took a great call to seal victory after Mansbridge had moved all in with his final 2.2m chips on an 8c7c4cAh board. Price made the call with J8 which was good enough against Mansbridge's J7 and held on to win.The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1st - £86,400 - Oliver Price2nd - £57,300 - Alan Mansbridge3rd - £38,000 - Andrew Christoforou4th - £22,600 - Phil Souki5th - £17,100 - David Laronde6th - £13,900 - Matt Frankland7th - £10,650 - Mike Quinn8th - £8,100 - Ben Mammo9th - £6,100 - Ben VinsonThe GUKPT heads to Manchester for its next stop from 2-9 March.
