Norwegian pro Ola 'Odds_Oddsen' Amundsgård is no stranger to high stakes heads up action but from today he'll be taking on an unusual opponent. The PLO specialist will facing off against politician Erlend Wiborg as part of a campaign to show that poker is a game of skill and not pure luck.

The contest will be more than just a showcase though as there's the not so small of 1 million Norwegian kroner (around £100,000) on offer to Wiborg should he beat his professional rival.

Amundsgård’s “goal is to focus on the need to legalize poker as it is a game of skill. Both I and the Progress Party agree with him and therefore, I am pleased that the new government will soften the rules and make sure to allow poker in a controlled manner.”

According to PokerFuse, the pair will play for at least 120 hours, starting with a live session in Oslo tomorrow. The action will then head online to PokerStars for the remainder of the challenge which is scheduled to come to a close by 7 May 2014. In the unlikely event that Wiborg does triumph, he will donate the cash to charity.
