No Triple Crown For Billy Chattaway

No Triple Crown For Billy Chattaway

Thursday, 24 September 2015

English grinder Billy Chattaway came agonisingly close to online multi-table tournament history this week but had to content himself with a $24,000 pay-day after finishing second in Event #55 of the World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) from PokerStars.

After finishing fourth in the WCOOP $10,300 eight-max high-roller event last week, Chattaway looked as though he could be on for a coveted 'triple crown' before the end of the current series. He had already banked Turbo Championship Of Online Poker (TCOOP) and Spring Championship Of Online Poker (SCOOP) titles earlier this year and was full of confidence heading into the latest edition of the WCOOP.

However, a narrow defeat in his latest tournament seems to have dampened his spirit. Despite finishing one place short of the champion's trophy and likely in profit for the series, Chattaway tweeted that he's now finished with WCOOP for 2015 and will return next year for another shot at glory.

"2nd in WCOOP-55 for 24k. Couldn't have got any closer to my 2015 COOP Triple Crown #. That's last shot of the series, back in 2016!!," read a Tweet from Chattaway.

Although Chattaway was out of luck, Ireland's 'Skint Paddy' wasn't and in addition to walking away with $34,000 for winning Event #55 he also secured his country's first WCOOP title of 2015.
