Nicolas Proust Takes Battle Of Malta

Friday, 13 November 2015

After five days of action, Nicolas Proust has topped a field of 1,809 runners to clinch the €550 ($592) buy-in main event of the PokerListings.com Battle Of Malta.

The 29-year-old is now richer to the tune of €110,000 ($118,562) after winning the no-limit hold‘em main event hosted by professional poker player Maria Ho following a three-handed deal involving Henrik Jacobsen and Hendrik Koops.

However, Proust was not the biggest winner at the Portomaso Casino as Dutch pro Koops, who was in the lead when the ICM-based chop was agreed, walked away with €125,000 ($134,673) despite being eliminated in third.

The final action encompassed only one hand and saw Proust with pocket 4s go up against the KJ of Jacobsen. The pocket pair prevailed to give the Frenchman the title although his Nowegian opponent pocketed €102,000 ($109,876) in cash for finishing in second.
