New WPT Season Announced

Thursday, 29 May 2014

It's hard to believe but after Keven Stammen won this year's WPT World Championship it brought the curtain down on the tour's 12th season. Having crowned 193 champions since its inception the World Poker Tour is now gearing up for its 13th season with the announcement of 20 events.

Taking place across four continents and with buy-in levels designed to suit every bankroll, the first half of the season will get underway in Italy with the Gioco Digitale WPT National Campione on June 5th.

From there the WPT bandwagon will travel to London for the PartyPoker WPT National UK, before heading to Ls Vegas, Valencia and Brussels.

The first Main Event of Season XIII will be the Legends of Poker event which takes place in the familiar surroundings of the Bicycle Casino.

Although the latest announcement is just the first half of the season, the WPT organisers are already expecting big things. Indeed, with Season VII producing a number of firsts, including a record-setting 1,795 players at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, it's hoped even more players will join the action next season.

Commenting on the latest roster of events, the WPT Executive Tour Director, Matt Savage, said:

"Coming off a very successful Season XII highlighted by some record-setting numbers and fantastic new locations, the World Poker Tour marches into lucky Season XIII with more new global stops and many of the great tournaments that have made the WPT the most player-friendly tour in poker."
