The World Series Of Poker (WSOP) has announced that John Juanda and Jennifer Harman are set to be the latest players inducted into its virtual Poker Hall Of Fame.
The search for the latest pair of poker greats began in the summer before coming to a conclusion on October 26. Juanda and Harman will now be honoured in a special ceremony on November 6 at Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, just before the start of the final table of the WSOP's main event.Unsurprisingly, the news has been met with approval from the poker community with the likes of Patrik Antonius, Sam Trickett, Daniel Negreanu and Jennifer Tilly all offering their congratulations via social media.Although many on this side of the Atlantic had pushed to have Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott inducted, the majority opinion of the panel was that Juanda and Harman were the most worthy for 2015.Indeed, when it comes to Juanda, his recent European Poker Tour (EPT) main event win in Barcelona was enough to tip the scales in his favour. Although he has won more than $15 million before his exploits in Spain, the Indonesia-born player's win put him back in the public eye and helped to secure his place in poker's hallowed halls."It's an honour to see my name among so many players I have admired and respected throughout my career; Chip Reese, Erik Seidel and Dan Harrington," said Juanda."Thank you to all the fans who nominated me and to the Poker Hall Of Fame and media members who voted me in."As for Harman, she's not only been a consistent winner in the Las Vegas big game for a number of decades but also served an ambassador for a host of charities including Creating Organ Donation Awareness (CODA) and the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)."It’s truly an honour to be selected into the Poker Hall Of Fame," said Harman."Poker has been an unbelievable journey for me and to have the respect of my peers is truly amazing. I want to thank everyone for the amazing support."
