Amaya Gaming Group, the company behind online poker giants PokerStars and Full Tilt, has named Rafi Ashkenazi as the new head of its Rational Group division.
“Rafi has been working very closely this year with our executive management team and returns to Rational Group with an even greater knowledge of our corporate strategy, vision and goals,” said David Baazov, Chief Executive Officer for Montreal-based Amaya Gaming Group.“Combining this knowledge with his operational expertise makes him an ideal leader for the Rational Group.”Formerly an executive with software developer Playtech, Ashkenazi joined Rational Group in January of 2013 as its Chief Operating Officer with responsibility over all customer-facing product and back-office functions for PokerStars and Full Tilt. These duties included marketing, customer support, poker room and IT management, payment processing and security and game integrity and he was subsequently appointed Strategy Senior Vice-President for Amaya Gaming Group earlier this year.“I look forward to re-joining the excellent team at Rational Group and working with it to continue to extend its leadership in online gaming,” said Ashkenazi.“We have great opportunities in the near future with our upcoming launch in New Jersey, the expansion of our casino and sportsbetting businesses and our mission to grow the poker category.”
