Two of the biggest names from the world's of tennis and football will meet at the poker tables later this month, and all in the name of charity.
Multiple grand slam winner Rafael Nadal and Brazilian legend Ronaldo will be playing in a special €100,000 tournament at the PokerStars EPT Prague festival on Thursday 12 December. And they're not the only stars from the worlds of sport and poker who'll be doing their bit for a worthwhile cause. Joining them at the tables will be Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko, Italian skier and playboy Alberto Tomba, Dutch hockey star Fatima Moreira de Melo and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu. “Ronaldo has always been a hero of mine and I’m looking forward to taking him on at the poker table”, said Nadal. “The great thing about poker is that it’s a common ground for us to compete on, and there are many similarities between sport and poker strategy, so it will be good to see how he translates his game from the football field to the poker felt.” The Brazilian World Cup winner added, “This is going to be a great event, and it’s one of the few opportunities that I have to take on Rafa and the other athletes on a level playing field. We are all sports professionals, but in completely different fields, and poker is the level ground on which we can all compete fairly.” Check out Rafa's preparations for his live debut below: Join Rafa at the PokerStars tables with a 100% first deposit bonus of up to $400 as well as entry into four $1000 freerolls.
