Since the announcement that NBC's Heads-Up Championship will be returning in January there has been much talk and speculation about which players will be invited to take part in the $25,000 event.

Forum threads and Twitter feeds have been awash with fans and players putting forward names they’d like to see competing in the popular televised event. While there hasn’t been an official announcement of the complete list of players yet, the tournament’s organisers have begun sending out invitations.

Indeed, after starting a forum thread praising the event, Allen Kessler was able to confirm that Will Failla and Andy Frankenberger are confirmed to play. Later in the thread, two other names - Olivier Busquet and Matt Glantz – are also mentioned as people who will be playing.

There is also talk that 2011 WSOP Main Event Champion Pius Heinz and his 2012 counterpart, Greg Merson, will also be asked to attend.

One player who won't be taking part in is this year’s tournament, despite winning the EPT Grand Final back in April is Mohsin Charania.

In a recent tweet he expressed his disappointment at not getting an automatic place and instead said he’ll be heading to the Aussie Millions.

NBC's $25,000 Heads-Up Championship runs from January 24th until the 26th and will feature some of the world's best players as well as a selection of notable celebrity players.
