Monday, 16 April 2012

It’s official, the Danes are taking over. Morten Christensen has won the WPT Vienna and become the fourth Dane in a few months to win a major European tournament, after Frederik Jensen, Mickey Petersen and Jannick Wrang.

Christensen defeated a field that included EPT Berlin champion Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky, who wound up finishing in third place, leaving Christensen and Konstantin Tolonko to battle it out.

Heads-up was a short affair as Tolokno and Christensen got it in with K8 and A8 respectively. The dominated hand couldn’t suck out, and Christensen was the man walking away with €313,390 and a $25,000 seat to the WPT championship.

1 Morten Christensen $410,519
2 Konstantin Tolokno $251,166
3 Benjamin Wilinofsky $161,003
4 Ognjen Sekularac $111,095
5 Goswin Siemsen $82,106
6 Norbert Szecsi $64,318
