Moneymaker Rolls Back The Years

Moneymaker Rolls Back The Years

Tuesday, 18 March 2014

Chris Moneymaker stepped atop of the winner's rostrum once again last weekend after he took down the main event at the Hollywood Poker Open in St Louis.

Eleven years after winning his first major title at the World Series Of Poker (WSOP), Moneymaker added another poker trophy as well as $36,259 to his collection after beating Frank Wyville heads-up.

Although Moneymaker's latest win is a million miles away from his momentous Las Vegas victory in 2003, his performance was no less emphatic as the final session saw him eliminate virtually everyone at the table.

Indeed, after leading the field at the start of play, Moneymaker eliminated seven of his nine opponents before his Kc 5c was strong enough to stay ahead of Wyville's 5s 4s in the final showdown.

On top of taking his lifetime winnings over the $3.5 million mark, Chris's latest victory also earned him a seat in the HPO Championship, which will take place in June.

Hollywood Poker Open St Louis final standings:

1. Chris Moneymaker - $36,259

2. Frank Wyville - $22,395

3. James Basham - $17,063

4. Todd Bartlett - $10,664

5. Shabtai Moria - $8,531

6. Jovan Sudar - $6,399

7. Todd Metheny - $5,332
