Tuesday, 1 May 2012

Mohsin Charania has turned a $33 rebuy satellite seat into a massive €1,350,000 after winning the PokerStars EPT Grand Final. The American, who has online winnings of over $3.5m, beat Lucille Cailly, the first woman to appear at an EPT Grand Final final table, heads-up to take the title.

The American, who plays online as “Chicagocards1” sealed the win when his pocket queens held up against Cailly's AK. As well as entering the record books, the Frenchwoman can celebrate a seven-figure score for her efforts.

Charania told the PokerStars blog, “I feel great. This is my first trophy – I don’t think they give you these when you win a tournament online. I’ve spent two months playing poker in Europe and this is only the second time I’ve made the antes.”

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Mohsin Charania €1,350,000
2 Lucille Cailly €1,050,000
3 Bernard Guigon €545,000
4 Sergio Castelluccio €400,000
5 Rodrigo Caprioli €315,000
6 Michael Dietrich €245,000
7 Clayton Mozdzen €185,000
8 Daniel Gomez €130,000
