Michael Eiler wins PokerStars EPT Vienna for €700,000

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu couldn’t make the run for the EPT title that would have given him poker’s Triple Crown and the All-Time Money Earner title once more. Unfortunately he was on the wrong side of a cooler that totally took the momentum from his charge at the EPT Vienna title and flipped the final table dynamic.

Negreanu had built up a huge stack in the days prior to the final table and carried that forward motion to the last eight. With five players remaining in contention he held around half of the chips in play and as the most experienced tournament player remaining looked poised for a €700,000 payday.

Martin Hruby got all his chips in the middle over the top of Italian Luca Cainelli and Negreanu with the covering stack. Negreanu had flopped two pair to outdraw Cainelli’s A-A but Hruby revealed the nut straight which held to give him over ten million chips; four times more than Negreanu or Eiler.

However, German online pro Eiler had final table big money experience with a Sunday Million win and over half a million in online cashes under his belt. He turned it around before the heads-up stages and eventually dispatched Hruby with A-T against 2-2, flopping the nuts to have his opponent dead on the turn.

The full payouts for the EPT Vienna final table were as follows:
1st - Michael Eiler, Germany €700,000
2nd - Martin Hruby, Czech Republic €470,000

6th - Andreas Wiese, Germany, €105,000
