Matthew Waxman leading WPT Grand Prix de Paris final 18

Friday, 9 September 2011

The World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris Main Event is heading into Day 4 today with just two tables left in contention. Matthew Waxman is leading the way with 1.12m chips; regardless of what happens he is guaranteed to cross the $1m live tournament cashes mark.

Waxman can add a cash in this event to two WSOP final tables and a WSOP Circuit win. However, the €500,000 plus first prize in this event dwarfs anything he has netted in live poker tournaments before and with that stack, he’s the favourite to win it.

The Floridian has made this his third WPT cash but he has competition if he wants to go all the way – just an ante or so behind him is Finland’s Mikko Sundell on 1.11m. McLean Karr is the major disappointing absentee on Day 4 – he ran Jh-Th into 8h-7h on a Ah-Kh-8x board and couldn’t hit one of his eighteen (!!) outs to improve, hitting the rail just before the money bubble burst.
