Matthew Scott wins July Fox Poker Club Main Event

Monday, 11 July 2011

Matthew Scott has won the July Fox Poker Club Main Event outlasting a 115-runner field to pocket a first prize of £9,000.

Scott had agreed a chop with Nathan Gentry after Duncan Mackie was eliminated in third place. The deal would see both take home £8,250 before playing on for an extra £750 and the title. Despite most of the money already being decided, it took a marathon heads up battle to finally settle the winner with Scott's A10 finally holding up against Gentry's A8.

It was quite the payday for the Ulsterman who only played in the event because he was so far down the reserve list for the £35 buy-in event.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1st Matthew Scott £9,000
2nd N. Gentry £8,250
3rd D. Mackie £4,140
4th J. Goldman £3,100
5th A. Berkecz £2,420
6th P. Burford £1,720
7th R. Dsliva £1,380
8th V. Hoang £1,040
9th T. Hoang £690
