Last night saw 64 of the world’s best players attend an exclusive draw party to determine that match-ups for this year’s NBC Heads-Up Championship.
With play set to kick off later today, those in attendance were keen to know which player they’d be facing first in the $20,000 invitational. However, before the draw began it was announced that Daniel Negreanu would not be competing in this year’s event due to personal commitments with David 'Doc' Sands taking his place. With the formalities out of the way, the draw began in earnest. Of the first round matches there is an interesting selection including Viktor Blom versus Andrew Litchtenberger, Isaac Haxton versus Justin Bonomo, Phil Ivey versus Phil Laak and Jason Mercier versus Dan Smith. All the first round matches will be played out today before the next two rounds commence on January 25. Following that, the final flurry of match-ups will take place on January 26 when a winner will be crowned.First round of NBC Heads-Up Championship:Esfandiari v TillyDuhamel v GlantzMoorman v MortensonSalsberg v CatesRousso v TimoshenkoDeeb v FrankenbergerBloch v JuliusFailla v SeiverLamb v GreensteinMonnette v RaymerBlom v LitchtenbergerMizrachi v MatusowWilliams v HenniganSimon v OppenheimLaak v IveyHaxton v BonomoCheong v BusquetBellande v MillerHo v GalfondKatchalov v JakaJ Smith v GrospellierHellmuth v SextonMoneymaker v SomervilleSalaburu v SandsSeidel v DwanMarchese v BrunsonHastings v MatrosSchulman v ElezraMerson v SerockCharania v SeedBoeree v BaumannMercier v D SmithKeep up to date with all the news from the poker world by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
