Marinos Mina heads UKIPT Bristol

Saturday, 10 November 2012

The two opening flights at UKIPT Bristol are in the book with 239 of the 550 starters heading back to the city's Gala Casino later today. Leading the way is Marinos Mina who dominated Day 1B to close with an impressive stack of 138,800.

Joining Mina in the upper echelons of the leader board were Italy's Emanule Pani (127,400), season one winner Andrew Couldridge (95,200), Matthew Moss and Cypriot qualifier Petros Malactos (both on 94,000).

There are plenty of big names looming slightly further back including recent Irish Poker Award winner Jason Tompkins (64,500), former World Heads Up champ Bambos Xanthos (58,000), Martins Adeniya (36,900) and Rob Akery (35,900).

The best known person left is probably Vicky Coren who survived the day despite running quads into James Dempsey's Royal Flush. Despite being on the right end of that cooler, Flushy was busted by the end of the day, as were fellow big names Liv Boeree and English Poker Open winner Mickey Petersen.

A total of 72 players will make the money with the min-cash set at £1,000. The final nine will scoop at least £6,080 with the eventual winner taking home a cool £90,400.

The action resumes at noon.
