Mad Turk victorious in Stoke

Mad Turk victorious in Stoke

Monday, 6 August 2012

As expected, the latest leg of the Genting Poker Series was a biggie with 482 entrants creating a hefty prize pool of £192,800. After three days of action it was Yucel Eminoglu who took the lion's share of it.

The man known as the Mad Turk was one of 19 players who started the final day in Stoke and he could have been one of the early casualties when all in with tens against aces. Eminoglu got lucky though, spiking a ten to crack Simon Deadman's pocket rockets. A Mad Turk with chips is a dangerous proposition and so it proved as Eminoglu raced through the final table.

Deadman didn't let the disappointment of losing a big pot with pocket aces affect his game either and went on a great run to set up a heads up clash with Eminoglu. The pair agreed a chop before playing on for the trophy.

The end came soon after the deal had been agreed with the Mad Turk sealing victory when his AK held against Deadman's A10.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1. Yucel Eminoglu £46,550*
2. Simon Deadman £31,000*
3. Rui Chang £22,900
4. Rob Swindells £17,950
5. Long Pham £14,250
6. Steve Warburton £10,800
7. Karl Mahrenholz £7,700
8. Damian Hitchins £5,200
9. Neil Ryder £3,300
