The latest round of WSOP Main Event eliminations is in after another day of action and the list of fallen heroes is certainly sobering.
Despite some of the finest players in the game anteing up for a shot at the biggest prize in poker, the Main Event has no respect for any man or woman and always helps to put some people's egos in check.Last night's action was no different as the likes of Phil Ivey, Jorryt van Hoof and Mike McDonald were all unable to make it through their second sessions. However, it wasn't all bad news as there is still plenty of star power left in the most prestigious event of the year. Among the 1,900 odd players still gunning for the $7 million top prize and poker immortality is a string of top pros, including: the UK's Louis Salter, 2013 Main Event champion Ryan Riess, Phil Hellmuth, Scotty Nguyen, Joe Hachem and Daniel Negreanu. With strong enough stacks to make it to Day 3, the aforementioned pros will all merge with the other Day 2 survivors as the Main Event moves to the first of its single sessions.Although there is still a long way to go until the field dips under the 1,000 player mark and moves towards the final table, it's expected that the money bubble will burst sometime late on Day 3 or early on Day 4.Once that milestone is reached and players are guaranteed at least $15,000, the commentators will have a much better idea of whether or not this year's WSOP Main Event final table will feature any of the game's leading pros.
