Bluff Europe should of course be your first port of call for strategy advice but if you fancy some free tips from an unusual source then the Massachusetts Institute of Technology may be able to help.

The American university has launched a new poker theory syllabus as part of its OpenCourseWare programme. Free to follow, the eight-part video series is tutored by graduate student and poker player Kevin Desmond and uses maths and to give students a basic guide to the theory of poker.

Lessons include basic strategy, preflop analysis, tournament play, poker economics, game theory and decision making.
