The Newcastle event was much the better attended of the two with a total of 66 players buying in for the £300+£30 Main Event. In the end it was Hugh Frew who had the most to cheer about, pocketing £6,340, after defeating Bruno Mutch heads up to clinch the title. It was an amazing comeback from Frew who went from short stack to champion in the blink of an eye after a series of unlikely double ups.

The £200+£20 side event was won by John Hobson Willets who picked up £3,200 after outlasting a 46 runner field. 25 players hit the felt for the £150+£15 side event with Craig McDowell collecting £1,500 for the win.

The field for the Main Event in Walsall was smaller than in Newcastle with 33 entering the £500+£50 tournament. Warwickshire's Stephen Thomson took the honours defeating Joseph Stone heads up when his flush did for Stone's made straight. Thomson took £7,220 for the win with Stone taking home £5,260 which should offer some consolation.

Sheffield (21st to 25th July) and Dundee (22nd to 25th July) are the venues for the next Summer Series events. Before that though is the small matter of the GUKPT Club Championships on Saturday 10th July. £200+£20 events will take place in Cardiff, Coventry, London's Victoria Casino, Newcastle, Salford and Sheffield.

Qualifiers for the Summer Series events are up and running at Blue Square Poker.
