Kenny Smaron Takes High-Roller

American poker player Kenny Smaron has secured the largest cash prize of his live tournament career after taking down the €10,300 ($11,136) buy-in high-roller event at the Prague stop of the European Poker Tour (EPT) tournament series.

More usually found at the online hyper turbo sit-and-go tables, Smaron topped a field of 315 runners that included a high-class final table featuring the likes of Vanessa Selbst and Daniel Cates inside the Hilton Prague Hotel to claim the €595,500 ($643,760) prize.

Costa Rica-based Smaron started heads-up play against Jaroslaw Sikora holding a hefty chip advantage and it didn't take him long to seal victory. The short-stacked Pole took a stand with K-J before being looked up by his opponent, who was holding A-6. An A-6 on the flop was good enough to give the American the hand and along with a massive pre-Christmas bonus.
