Jonathan Karamalikis wins WCOOP Event #6 for $180k

Tuesday, 6 September 2011

With the PokerStars WCOOP just three days into its tenth running, six bracelets and millions of dollars have been awarded already. The big name winner so far has been Jonathan Karamalikis, who plays under the frankly amazing screen name of MONSTER_DONG.

Karamalikis won the $215 Turbo Rebuy NL event for $179,570 after being down to less than a single big blind when play was six-handed. However, a chip and a chair is all you need and despite the chips being virtual, the Australian pro doubled up with 9-6 versus A-Q the very next hand before doing the same again with 8-6 versus K-9. He then managed to get his way into at least fourth place after a couple of eliminations before knocking out two of his three opponents. Heads-up play lasted just two hands after he got A-T against K-8, which held up to ship him the event.

Russian player K_0_S_T_Y_A was the other big winner, defeating a field more monstrous than Karamalikis’s dong – he finished first out of a staggering 10,107 players to win almost $300,000 – not bad for a $215 investment.
