John Eames Wins WSOP Circuit Event

Wednesday, 26 November 2014

John Eames is the latest British player to taste World Series of Poker glory after winning the latest Circuit event at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas.

Southport's finest topped a field of 1,044 entrants that included a host of big names to pocket an impressive first prize score of $289,706. A big payday looked a long way off for Eames during the early stages of the final table though. After losing a big pot early on, the Englishman was almost in chip and a chair territory with just over four big blinds to his name.

A big triple up with 10d-9d against Ad5d and pocket jacks put him back on track and he didn't look back from there.

After seeing off the challenges of Brad Libson, Dustin Johns and Ping Liu, Eames was left to battle it out with long-time leader Matt Berkey for the title. The Englishman soon took control before sealing the win with pocket queens which held against the American's open-ender.

In addition to a bumber six-figure score, Eames also earned a WSOP ring as well as a seat in the season-ending National Championship. Not a bad haul from a first appearance in a WSOP Circuit event.
