The third season of the popular Sky Poker Tour drew to a close over the weekend with one of the site's pro team, James Williams, taking the title.
Williams, who is better known to channel 865 viewers as LjamesL, outlasted a field of 374 runners to take home the first prize of just over £22,000. The youngster from Swindon went into day two with one of the shortest stacks but went on a massive heater to place second on the leader board when the final table was set. Williams kept up the pressure throughout that final table and eventually sealed the deal holding AK against runner up Astel Cowan's A5. The final hand wasn't without a fright for Williams though who needed to dodge an open ended straight and a flush draw on the river. He dodged all those outs though and pocketed £22,264 for his efforts. The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1 - James Williams £22,2642 - Astel Cowan £13,0153 - Kristian Downer £7,8094 - Alan Jenkinson £5,4805 - Saifon Lambe £4,1106 - Daniel Green £3,0827 - Sian Dyson £2,3978 - Jamie Burland £1,7129 - Richard Beauchamp £1,370Read more: http://uk.pokernews.com/news/2011/09/james-williams-wins-sky-poker-tour-grand-final-7170.htmSky Poker players don't have long to wait until the start of the new Sky Poker Tour season.
