James Akenhead Back In Style

Wednesday, 9 December 2015

Englishman James Akenhead has well and truly returned to the world of live professional poker following a deep run in yesterday's €2,150 ($2,352) buy-in no-limit hold‘em Turbo event at the Prague stop of the European Poker Tour (EPT).

The 2009 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) and World Series Of Poker Europe (WSOPE) main event finalist has been largely absent from the live tournament circuit recently as he helped set up The Reach Bar And Grill in London. But, he returned last month to pocket £72,500 ($109,409) thanks to a third-place finish at the Grand Final tournament of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT).

The Londoner has now equalled this feat after finishing third out of a field of 156 runners in the Czech capital to add a further €31,780 ($34,803) to his bankroll.

Tuesday’s Event #23 and its €70,360 ($77,058) cash prize was eventually won by Russia's Victor Dobrovolskiy after he defeated Carlos Branco from Portugal heads-up.
