The two opening flights at the guarantee-busting €1k UKIPT Marbella Main Event are in the book with the familiar figure of Jake Cody looking set for a deep run.

It took the triple crown winner three flights and 21 hours to get from Las Vegas to southern Spain but it looked a worthwhile effort when he closed day 1B in third place with 131,700.

All told, a massive field of 750 players took to the tables during the two opening flights with 336 of them still chasing a first prize of €136,000 when play resumes this lunchtime.

Leading the way is Swedish grinder Ken Lennaard (149,700) followed by Moldova's Denis Ursu (146,300). Other notables still in the hunt include Paul Foltyn (61,600), Sam Grafton (53,000), Paul Berende (50,900), Leo Margets (34,700), Dale Philp (21,900) and our own Nick Wealthall (17,900).
