Ivey and Lederer in $5m prop bet

Wednesday, 21 April 2010

What do high stakes pros do when they want to spice up the action? Why throw in a little prop bet action on the side of course. Nothing strange about that but the figures in Phil Ivey's latest heads up with Howard Lederer are mind boggling.

According to Poker Listings, Ivey and Lederer have an even money bet of $5m on whether Ivey can win two bracelets at the 2010 and 2011 WSOP. Ivey is obviously betting that he can take down the pair of titles with Lederer going against.

Ivey is expected to play around 80 events over the next two years and has had multiple bracelet wins in 2002 and 2009 making a double triumph a distinct possibility. The blogosphere is divided on who's got the better side of the deal though. With increasingly bigger fields, winning bracelets has become more difficult but this is Phil Ivey we're talking about.

Bluff Europe thinks that Ivey has got the better of the action but let us know what you think by posting in this thread on our forum.
