Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies wins over $200k at PokerStars.

Finnish Omaha specialist Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies has had a pretty crummy year thus far, especially at PokerStars. His “Ilari_FIN” account had lost over $800,000 when he first began playing on PokerStars instead of Full Tilt but finally he has begun to get some momentum and turn that deficit around.

Just this weekend, Sahamies played 2,300 hands of high stakes PLO and managed to win nearly a quarter-million dollars with a winrate of $10 per hand. Playing anywhere from $50/$100 to $200/$400 Omaha, he won $224,000 over the weekend to add to his recent winnings. Nearly half of his $800,000 losses have been made up for.
His main victim was French player Romain “moirhums” Arnaud. Last week he lost another six figures to Sahamies and now the man who Barry Greenstein calls one of the best Omaha players in the world has once again profited from Arnaud.
Sahamies also took on Rui “PepperoniF” Cao to add another $100,000 to his earnings recently. This seems to have kick-started action at the rarely-used $200/$400 Omaha tables on PokerStars so let’s hope that continues.
