Hwang Heads WPT Borgata
Thursday, 31 January 2013
Despite many of poker's biggest names being down under for the Aussie Millions there's still been a massive turnout across the pond for WPT Borgata. The starting field of 1,042 runners has been whittled down to just 28 with Yung Hwang leading the hunt for the $730k first prize.
Hwang closed the day with 3,039,000, giving him a handy lead over nearest rivals Jeremy Druckman (2,598,000), Sam Taylor (2,390,000) and Taylor Paur (2,080,000).
Other familiar faces still in the hunt include Joe Serock (1,630,000) and TV producer turned WPT champion Matthew Salsberg (567,000).
The bubble burst overnight with notables Matt Matros, Jonathan Little, Allen Kessler and Ana Marquez all making the money before hitting the rail.
The 28 survivors are guaranteed at least $12k with the final tables of six set to walk away with at least $147,000.
Blinds are at 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante.
The chip leaders are as follows:
1 Yung Hwang 3,039,000
2 Jeremy Druckman 2,598,000
3 Sam Taylor 2,390,000
4 Taylor Paur 2,080,000
5 Ryan Paluf 1,630,000
6 Joe Serock 1,578,000
