Hoy beats WPT champ Lewis to World Open Heat 5 win

Friday, 10 September 2010

It wouldn’t have quite been the EPT/WPT/WSOP Triple Crown but EPT and WPT 2010 champion Toby Lewis would have definitely added to his dominance of 2010 poker tournaments by taking down the PartyPoker World Open. Sadly it is not to be as he lost out to Dale Hoy heads-up after failing to outdraw KJ with 95s when the stacks got moved in before the flop.

Bidibot CEO and Aussie Millions winner John Tabatabi took to the felt with Lewis and Hoy as well as TV pro Phil Laak and WSOP bracelet-winner Huck Seed. Seed outlasted only Jason Gray in the eight-man heat that saw Tabatabi drop out in third leaving Lewis and Hoy to face off.

Hoy will join Sam Trickett, Andrew Robl, John Duthie and more in the seven-handed final table tonight. Lewis still has a chance to earn some glory in the World Open as the runners-up heat takes place tonight at 11pm.
