Many of the poker world's biggest names (and deepest pockets) will be out in force in the capital today as the first ever £50,000 buy-in EPT London High Roller event begins.
25 players have already confirmed their attendance including Big One for One Drop runner up Sam Trickett, former WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel and Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier and Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier. They will be joined by a who's who of high rollers including Erik Seidel, EPT Grand Final High Roller winners Tobias Reinkemeier and Steve Silverman, EPT Super High Roller winner Dan Smith, EPT Dortmund champ Mike 'Timex' McDonald and last year's EPT London High Roller winner Talal Shakerchi. The field will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Vitaly Lunkin who won the first EPT Super High Roller event of the season in Barcelona last month. The Russian pocketed a cool €771,300 after outlasting a field of 51 entrants in the Catalan capital. Railbirds will be able to follow all the action from the Grand Connaught Rooms courtesy of EPTLive which will be broadcasting the tournament from 2.30pm. Regular hosts James Hartigan and Joe 'Stapes' Stapleton will be joined in the commentary box by Matt Broughton and Marc Convey.
