Hicham Hilmi Takes WPT Paris Lead

Hicham Hilmi Takes WPT Paris Lead

Sunday, 27 October 2013

The two opening flights at WPT National Grand Prix de Paris are in the book with 132 of the 171 starters who took to the Aviation Club tables returning later today.

The chip leader heading into day 2 is Hicham Hilmi who is no stranger to success in the WPT National Series. The Frenchman pocketed €75,000 after winning the WPT Event in Annecy in May and is well placed for another deep run thanks largely to scooping a huge pot just before the close.

The Frenchman was lucky enough to be dealt aces and managed to get it all preflop against opponents holding A9 and AQ. The pocket rockets held to give Hilmi a 111,050 stack.

Other notables to survive the second opening flight included former WPT winners Matt Salsberg, Tommy Vedes, Barry Greenstein, Daniel Alaei and Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliot. Ravi Raghavan, fressh from his WSOPE final table appearances also made it through, as did Kara Scott, Jake Schwartz and Jordan Christos.

The action resumes at 12.30pm UK time.

The chip leaders heading into day 2 are as follows:

1 Hicham Hilmi 111,050
2 Todd Terry 110,750
3 Gilbert Diaz 90,100
4 Jean-Noel Thorel 90,050
5 Lars Stefan Olofsson 86,825
6 Emile Petit 74,975
