Hellmuth joins Duke in UB exit

Hellmuth joins Duke in UB exit

Friday, 31 December 2010

Last night we brought you news that Annie Duke had parted company with long term sponsor UB.com and speculated that Phil Hellmuth could follow suit. Well we didn't have to wait long to find out.

Hellmuth confirmed his departure from UB.com on his Twitter account this morning, “Making a BIG move...leaving UB. Truly lots of great memories, but it's time to move on...Mutual decision...Looking forward to BRIGHT future!”

Love him or loathe him Hellmuth is still one of the biggest names and most recognisable faces on the poker circuit so he shouldn't be lacking in potential sponsorship suitors. It's seems unlikely that the 11-time WSOP bracelet winner would want to share the spotlight with the star stacked line ups at PokerStars and FullTilt though. More likely perhaps is a link up with a bricks and mortar casino group or perhaps with WSOP.com which is expanding into the online arena.

And what next for UB? Team UB pro Joe Sebok had this to say his blog, “while it's true that two of our members have moved on, don't think that we aren't restocking the talent. We'll be announcing our newest Team UB member next week and I am crazily pumped about it. UB has, and will continue to have, a whole new look and feel for our team and our newest signing exemplifies that, so stay tuned for that announcement next week.”
