Hellmuth Nears WSOP Bracelet #14

Thursday, 3 July 2014

Phil Hellmuth is getting dangerously close to winning yet another WSOP bracelet.

The Brat will head to the final table of event #61, the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship, in third place on 404,000.

Todd Brunson will be the man to beat though, returning with 980,000 chips, well ahead of closest rival Steve Landfish on 556,000.

Henry Orenstein is showing that poker isn't just a game for hoodie wearing drones too. The 90-year-old (yes, 90) is chasing a second stud bracelet and returns as one of the short stacks. Rounding out the final nine are Matt Grapenthien, Ben Yu, James Obst, Jesse Martin and Henrik Hecklen.

Britain's Richard Ashby was the final table bubble boy, hitting the rail after running into a Henry Orenstein full house.

The chips and seat positions heading into tonight's finale are as follows:

1 Ben Yu 247,000
2 Henrik Hecklen 46,000
3 Phil Hellmuth 404,000
4 Jesse Martin 156,000
5 Henry Orenstein 112,000
6 Matt Grapenthien 390,000
7 Todd Brunson 980,000
8 Steve Landfish 556,000
9 James Obst 169,000
