The GUKPT made its maiden visit to Leeds over the weekend with 228 entrants taking to the tables at the city's Westgate Casino for the £500 Main Event.
After three days of action it was Harry Law who took home the biggest chunk of cash after topping a final table that included Willie Tann, Ben Turnstill and Dom Mahoney.Law started the final table as one of the big stacks and consolidated his position with the early eliminations of Michael Devlin and Dom Mahoney. The experienced Willie Tann's challenge stalled in seventh with Ben Turnstill following him in sixth, both at the hands of Michael Howard.Martin Paul hit the rail in fifth losing a flip with pocket eights against Mark Evans KJ. Jonny Cooper looked in good shape for a double up with pocket kings against Howard's As6d. A 9c3h7c board looked safe enough but an 8h on the turn and 5c on the river gave Howard a runner-runner straight.Mark Evans must also have thought he in line for a double up, getting all his chips in the middle with 2c4s on a Td2d2sKs board. Unfortunately for him, Harry Law had pocket 10s for the flopped full house. It didn't take Law long to seal the win, his Ts8c good enough on a Tc4s4c flop to beat Howard's pocket sevens. The final table positions and payouts were as follows:1st – £32,500 – Harry Law2nd – £21,350 – Michael Howard3rd – £13,300 – Mark Evans4th – £8,700 – Jonny Cooper5th – £5,900 – Martin Paul6th – £4,450 – Ben Turnstill7th – £3,550 – Willie Tann8th – £2,850 – Dom Mahoney9th – £2,400 – Michael Devlin10th – £2,050 – Liam Crawford
