Harrington and Seidel voted into Poker Hall of Fame

Wednesday, 20 October 2010

Dan Harrington and Erik Seidel will be joining poker's exclusive club after being voted into the Poker Hall of Fame. The pair beat an impressive list of nominees that included such luminaries as Chris Ferguson, Barry Greenstein, Jennifer Harman, Phil Ivey, Tom McEvoy, Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen and Linda Johnson.

“I’m very honored to be elected to the Poker Hall of Fame this year and it's an extra bonus for me to be going in with Dan Harrington,” Seidel said. “We have played together and have been great friends for my entire poker career. Both of us refined our games at the Mayfair Club in New York. I have such a high regard for the many members of the Poker Hall of Fame that I have played with over the years and it's a real privilege to be able to join them.”

One of poker's true gents, Seidel often gets overlooked when it comes to rating the best players in the game, despite owning eight WSOP bracelets. In fact he is probably best known for not winning a bracelet, his legendary showdown with Johnny Chan in the 1988 WSOP immortalised in the film Rounders. This nomination, along with bucket loads of cash and tournament titles cements his place in the poker pantheon.

With a WSOP Main Event win in 1995 and back to back final tables in 2003 and 2004 Dan Harrington needs no introduction. With careers earnings over $6m 'Action Dan' has certainly had a great poker career and thanks to his Harrington on Hold'em series of books has become a popular figure with small stakes players throughout the poker world.

The pair will officially take their place in the Hall of Fame at a special ceremony just before this year's November Nine heads up finale on 8th November 2010.
