A Dane by the name of Hansen has won the WPT Spanish Championships in Barcelona. No, not Gus but fellow countryman Casper, who outlasted a field of 253 to pick up over $655,000 for his efforts.

A Dane by the name of Hansen has won the WPT Spanish Championships in Barcelona. No, not Gus but fellow countryman Casper, who outlasted a field of 253 to pick up over $655,000 for his efforts. Casper almost mimicked Gus’ normal forays on final tables though, arriving at the six-handed finale with a third of the chips in play.

The tournament saw a total prize pool of almost $2 million dollars, and a thoroughly international line up. Second place went to Stefan Mattson, who was unfortunate to lose when his A-9 was outdrawn by Hansen’s A-2. Third placed Thiago Nishijima came third earning $176,934, Andreas Vidal took home $137,703 for his fourth place finish, while Guy Sitbon and Martin Lundenius lifted $118,166 and $98,157 for fifth and sixth spots.

That’s the last event in Europe before the start of the biggest event of them all – the World Series of Poker. Let’s just hope we hear more about Danes by the name of Hansen winning oodles of cash out in Las Vegas.
