Greenstein and Hellmuth aim for WSOP Event #41 final table

Greenstein and Hellmuth aim for WSOP Event #41 final table

Thursday, 24 June 2010

Ryan Karp has ended Day two of the $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better event ahead of the other 14 players remaining out of 81 Day 1 survivors but there are two names on everybody’s lips as Phil Hellmuth and Barry Greenstein are both looking to add to their bracelet collection.

The bracelet would be fantastic for Hellmuth – not only would it be number twelve to break his own record; it would be his first WSOP bracelet that didn’t come from Texas Hold ‘em. He’s at fourth place in the chip counts after outlasting players such as James Dempsey, Brandon Cantu and David Sands.

Ryan Karp’s 564,000 puts him way ahead of Hellmuth’s 331,000 or Greenstein’s 204,000 but the latter is an experienced Omaha player and, let’s face it, he’s Barry Greenstein. With Hellmuth as well, who knows what could happen?

A fifth British bracelet is still very much a possibility too with Steve Jelinek, Joel Ettedgi and Darren Sprengers all still in the hunt.

The top five chip counts are as follows:

1. Ryan Karp 564,000
2. Steve Jelinek 538,000
3. Joel Ettedgi 419,000
4. Phil Hellmuth 331,000
5. Ben Lamb 320,000
