If there's one thing that Dusk Till Dawn owner Rob Yong can't be accused of it's being the shy and retiring type.
Eternally optimistic and ever-confident of his product, the Nottingham poker room owner is attempting to run a series of tournaments each boasting a £250,000 ($383,200) guaranteed prizepool alongside a buy-in of just £70 ($107).Dubbed the Grand Prix Poker Tour, the live poker series will run every month for the next year and Yong hopes it will give casual players a chance to ante-up and win some serious cash.To ensure each tournament doesn't fall short of its lofty guarantee, Yong will need more than 4,000 players to buy-in over the course of seven starting days. The first event of the Grand Prix Poker Tour will get underway this weekend inside Dusk Till Dawn with a total of four starting flights. Taking place at 2pm and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, the sessions will give players a starting stack of 20,000 chips and a 30-minute clock. For those unable to attend an opening flight at Dusk Till Dawn in person, online openers will be taking place at partypoker from October 12 to 16. The Day 1 action will resume inside Dusk Till Dawn following the final online qualifier before Day 2 gets underway soon after.Although the event is likely to test Yong's resolve, he hopes it will become a popular fixture on the annual tournament calendar not least because many events are due to take place inside some of the UK's top football grounds.
