Giuseppe Pantaleo leads EPT Barcelona

Friday, 26 November 2010

Just 24 players remain at the PokerStars EPT Barcelona after the third day of play knocked the in-the-money field of 112 down to just 24 with Giuseppe Pantaleo holding over 2.3m in chips, way ahead of second place Alessandro Longobardi (best name ever) on 1.8m.

Play kicked off today at 11am GMT with the field playing down to a final table. Pantaleo got his monster stack in one of the closing hands of last night when he and Kristoffer Thorsson got in a blind versus blind battle that resulted in all the money going in pre-flop. Fortunately for Pantaleo he held K-K against A-T and held up to scoop the monsterpotten.

We lost some poker notables yesterday including PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and scourge of the WPT Carlos Mortensen, who both made it into the money but couldn’t capitalise on their talents to make a run at the final table.
