A new reality television programme is currently in production that should give poker fans a better understanding of what it takes for a female player to succeed in this male-dominated sport.

Being called Girl Got Game, the programme will follow the fortunes of eight female poker players on and off the felt in Las Vegas and Macau. Those reportedly set to feature in the series set to air in the spring encompass 888poker ambassador Sofia Lovgren as well as Xuan Liu, Danielle Andersen, Joanna Kwak, Lilou Agostini, Oanh Bui, Sabina Hiatullah and former Asian Player Of The Year Kitty Kuo.

“I created Girl Got Game to show that poker is a skill game and my friends work just as hard as anyone else in other professions to create a good living for themselves and their families,” series creator and producer Katrina Lim told PokerNews.

“They deserve respect in their line of work because it not only takes talent but a ton of resilience, intelligence, passion and motivation; female empowerment at its best. I’m also excited to show my friends collaborating together, proving teamwork while still having fun, will always be paramount.”

Girl Got Game will reportedly follow each player as they attempt to grow a starting bankroll of $10,000 in Macau before heading to Las Vegas for the 2016 edition of the World Series Of Poker (WSOP).
