American Carter Gill has brought the curtain down on the 2013 Latin American Poker Tour by winning the season-ending Grand Final in Uruguay over the weekend.
Gill made the final table at the LAPT in Panama in September and went even better in Punta del Esta, navigating his way through a field of 508 runner to pocket a first prize of $218.692. Gill went into heads up play with Ivan Raich with a massive nine to one chip lead but the Argentine fought his way back into contention prompting a deal. Raich continued his impressive comeback, at one stage taking the lead but experience told in the end. After building up a two to one lead, Gill finally sealed victory when his rivered flush beat Riach's straight. The final table positions and payouts were as follows: 1st: Carter Gill $ 218,692 * 2nd: Ivan Raich $ 172,568 * 3rd: Ariel Mantel $ 106,300 4th: Andres Korn $ 79,100 5th: Juan Manuel Pérez $ 59,840 6th: Cesar Sanguinetti $ 45,100 7th: Joao Bauer $ 33,780 8th: Walid Mubarak $ 25,840 The other big winners in Uruguay were Damian Salas who won the High Roller for $107,800, Brazil's David Dayan who took down the Double Chance for $75,380 and Amos Ben who won the overall LAPT Player of the Series award.
