The GUKPT's annual main event in London gets underway on Thursday and railbirds can follow the action via livestream.
Taking place inside the capital's famous Victoria Casino, the latest incarnation of the GUKPT's London event will see some of Europe's finest players assemble for a shot at a five-figure payday.Last year the likes of Mathew Frankland, Praz Bansi and Simon Deadman were all in contention as the main event entered its latter stages. However, when the betting was done and the chips had settled, it was Oliver Price who stood atop of the winner's podium. After skipping past the likes of Frankland and Philippe Souki on the final table, Price was able to dismantle Alan Mansbridge heads-up to claim his first GUKPT trophy and £86,400.This year, Price is expected back at the felt as is a string of well-known pros from across the UK and beyond. According to organisers, last season's figure of 323 entrants is likely to be breached as players look to ante-up the necessary £1,000 to purchase 20,000 chips for a shot at a £200,000 prizepool. As well as the main event, the opening leg of the GUKPT's 2015 season will offer players a selection of cash games and side events including a £150 bounty event and a unique Omaha event where players will play rounds using four, five and six cards. In fact, between this event and the rest of the season, the GUKPT will have more than £1.5 million in guaranteed cash prizes to give away.Railbirds can follow all the action from the the Main Event (as well as all the side event final tables) via a special live stream.
