The poker world is being sent to Coventry this week and it's all in a good cause as the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour hits the G Casino at the city's Ricoh Arena.
Arguably the most interesting event on a packed schedule is the massive Goliath tournament which last year attracted a huge field of over 1,700 runners. This year's event is expected to be even bigger with players having three opening flights to choose from starting on Wednesday at noon. Players will get a starting stack of 25,000 and a 40-minute clock for their £100+£20 buy-in with 25% of the registration fee going to the Marie Curie Cancer Care. Lee Rawson turned a £100 investment into over £32,000 after winning last year's Goliath.Other highlights of this week's line up include a £250 PLO freezeout on Wednesday and Bounty Boosters on Friday and Sunday. The big names will no doubt be out in force for the £1,000+£70 Main Event which starts at 2pm on Saturday. Julian Thew won last year's Coventry Main Event, pocketing a first prize of £42,740 after outlasting a 145 runner field.The full tournament schedule is as follows:21st August 2012 £300 + £30 NL Hold'em Freezeout 7.30pm 2 days 10,000 40 mins22nd August 2012 £100 + £20 Goliath Day 1A 12pm 5 days TBC TBC £250 + £25 Omaha Pot Limit Freezeout 6.00pm 1 day 12,000 30 mins £150 + £15 NL Hold'em Freezeout Super Satellite to Main Event 8.30pm 1 day 7,500 3 x 30 mins then 20 mins 23rd August 2012 £100 + £20 Goliath Day 1B 12pm 5 days TBC TBC £200 + £20 NL Hold'em 6 Max Freezeout 7.30pm 1 day 10,000 25 mins £75 + £7 NL Hold'em 1 Rebuy/1 Add On Super Satellie 9pm 1 day 4,000 (8,000 add on) 3 x 30 mins then 20 mins 24th August 2012 £100 + £20 Goliath Day 1C 12pm 5 days TBC TBC £150 + £150 + £15 NL Hold'em Bounty Booster Tournament 7.30pm 1 day7,500 25 mins 25th August 2012 Goliath Day 2 12pm - - - £1000 + £70 GUKPT Main Event Day 1 2pm 3 day 20,000 1 hour £100 + £10 NL Hold'em Freezeout 7.30pm 1 day 7,500 3 x 30 mins then 20 mins 26th August 2012 Goliath Day 3 12pm - - - £1000 + £70 GUKPT Main Event Day 2 2pm - - - £500 + £50 NL Hold'em Freezeout Day 1 4pm 2 days 15,000 45 mins £100 + £10 NL Hold'em Turbo Freezeout 7.30pm 1 day 7,500 15 mins 27th August 2012 Goliath Final Day 12pm - - - GUKPT Main Event Final Day 2pm - - - £500 + £50 NL Hold'em Freezeout Final Day 2pm - - - £100 +£10 Bounty Booster Freezeout 4pm 1 day 7,500 25 mins £30 + £5 NL Hold'em Rebuy Super Sat 1 Seat added 7.30pm 1 day 1,500 3 x 30 mins then 20 mins 28th August 2012 £100 + £10 NL Hold'em Freezeout Online 10% Series 7.30pm 1 day 5,000 15 mins
