GSN to begin broadcasting $50,000 Doubles Poker

Monday, 16 August 2010

GSN is famous in the poker world for their broadcasting of popular televised cash game High Stakes Poker, which features the likes of Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and Doyle Brunson playing with millions of dollars on the table.

Now the Game Show Network have come up with a new poker innovation to be broadcast this Saturday – the $50,000 buy-in Doubles Poker Championship. In this show, teams of two players will take other teams on over the felt with one player playing the flop and river; the other playing before the flop and on the turn.

Confirmed for this new concept are PartyPoker’s Tony G, Annette Obrestad, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey. We’re not sure which would be a funnier team to watch – Phil Hellmuth and durrrr or Phil Hellmuth and Tony G.

In total, 32 players will compete including poker’s biggest names – Johnny Chan, Phil Galfond, Jennifer Harman and Allen Cunningham complete a truly star-studded line-up competing at the Golden Nugget casino, Las Vegas.
